Last Will and Testatment of Edward Leadbeater of Mosborough, yeoman (1698)

I Edward Leadbeater of Mosbrough in the parish of Eckington in ye county of Derby yeoman and husbandman being but …. and weakened in body through infirmities and old age and being mindful to get my house in order, do make and ordaine this my last will and testament in the manner and forme following, being of perfect remembrance praised be to ye Lord first and principally I commend my soul into the hands of almighty god hoopeing through the merits death and passion of my saviour Jesus Christ to have full and free pardon and forgiveness of all my sins and to inherit everlasting life. And my body I …. to ye earth to be buried by …. at the discretion of my executor hereafter named and in …. my worldly goods I desire of them as followeth. I give and bequeath unto my son Edward Leadbeater five shillings and six pence. Item. Edward Leadbeater and to his heirs forever upon condition that he shall pay to my son in law William Booth the sum of forty shillings and to my grandchilder William Booth, Ann Booth, Elizabeth Booth and Abigall Booth to every one of them the sum of five shillings. Item I give and bequeath unto my aforenamed wife Abigall Leadbeater that parcell of land called ….. and abutting upon ye ….. Storth at ye one end and Mosbrough More on ye other end for her naturall life and then to my son Edward Leadbeater and his heirs for ever. Item I give all the residue of my goods houses leases lands tenements and estate whatsoever I give unto my aforenamed wife Abigall Leadbeater for her life upon condition that she shall pay all my Debts and funerall charges and I will that After the decease of my sd wife Abigall Leadbeater it go to my grandchild Hannah Booth and I will that she the said Hannah shall dwell with my wife whiles she doth live and then I will that my grandchild Edward Leadbeater shall get a halfs with the sd Hannah in all the goods and personall estate that my wife shall have left at her decease but for ye house, lease and tenand right he must not go halfe with her but she the sd Hannah shall have it to her selfe. And I make my aforenamed wife Abigall Leadbeater sole Executrix of this my last will and testament In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal the third day of November in the year of ye raigne of our Soveraigne Lord William ye third by ye grace of god over England Scotland France and Ireland King Defender of the Faith etc. anno Domini 1698.
