This is the last Will and Testament of me William Keeton of Mosbro, in the parish of Eckington in the County of Derby, Farmer made this Twenty seventh day of September in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and Forty three as follows, (that is to say) First I will and direct that all my just Debts, Funeral expenses and the charge of proving this my Will be fully paid and discharged by my Executors hereinafter named Then I give and bequeath unto my Friends John Ibbotson Hayes of Mosbro, aforesaid, schoolmaster and Frederick Keeton of the same place Sickle Manufacturer All and singular my Monies and securities for money and all the my personal Estate and Effects whatsoever and wheresoever Upon Trust to be disposed of in manner following (that is to say) I Will and direct that my Executors hereinafter named shall place out in the best security they can obtain the sum of Eighty Pounds, and my Will is that my Daughter in law Sarah Keeton (widow of my late Son William Keeton) shall receive the interest arising therefrom when and as the same shall become due, for and during the term of her natural life and at her decease I will and direct that the said sum of Eighty Pounds shall be equally divided amongst the sons and daughters of the said William and Sarah Keeton namely, Ruth, William, John, Emma, Eliza and Ann Also I give and bequeath unto my Grandchildren William, Frances, George and Joseph Sons and Daughter of Joseph and Emma Cooper the sum of Nineteen Pounds and Nineteen Shillings each, each child of both these said families to receive its share when it attains the age of twenty one years and to receive the interest on its share until it attains that age respectively Also I give and bequeath unto my Grandson William Calver, son of my late Daughter Ruth Calver the sum of Forty Pounds and in case of his decease before the same become due I will and direct that the same shall be equally divided amongst the aforesaid Legatees in proportion to their respective legacies – Also, I give and bequeath unto my Grandaughter Frances Cooper aforesaid my best bed and bedsteads – Also I will and direct that if any of these said children should die before the legacies become due my Will and desire is that the Survivor or survivors of each family respectively shall have the share or shares of their Brother or Sister so dying equally divided among them (if more than one) share and share alike but if only one then he or she to have the whole – Also, – I further Will and direct that after all these said legacies have been duly paid and discharged Then I give and bequeath the rest residue and remainder of my monies and securities for money and the monies thereby secured unto my Son David Keeton and my Daughter Charlotte Cadman the wife of John Cadman to be equally divided between them or their respective Heirs or assigns, – And that each and every of the above legacies shall be paid at the end of twelve months after my decease excepting to those under the age of Twenty-one years as hereinbefore directed provided also that if any of the persons hereinbefore named to be benefitted by this my Will shall raise or cause to be raised or created any dispute or difference whatsoever regarding the Bequests here-in-before by me made to them the share or shares of such person or persons shall be divided amongst the other Legatees in proportion to their respective Legacies; – And lastly that my Trustees shall not be answerable or accountable for any insufficiency or deficiency of any security or securites in or upon which the said trust monies or any part thereof shall be placed out or invested or for any loss misfortune or damage which may happen in the execution of the aforesaid Trusts. – And I do hereby nominate constitute and appoint the aforesaid John Ibbotson Hayes and Frederick Keeton Executors of this my last Will and Testament contained in the two sheets of paper hereby revoking all former and other Wills by me at any time heretofore made in Witness whereof I the said William Keeton the Testator have hereunto set my hand and seal (that is to say) my hand to the first sheet hereof and my hand and seal to this second and last sheet hereof the Day and year first hereinbefore Written.
