Last Will and Testament of William Brierley of Mosborough, sicklesmith (1684)

In the name of God Amen. The fifteenth day of January 1684 according to the Computation of the Church of England I William Brierley of Mosbrough in the p’ish of Eckington in the County of Derby sicklesmith being of perfect memory and Remembrance praise be to God Do make and ordaine this my last will and Testament in mannor and forme following (viz) Imprimis First I commend my Soul into the hands of Almighty god my maker hopeing through the meritorious death and passion of Jesus Christ my only Saviour and redeemer to receive free pardon and forgiveness of my sins and as for my body to be buried in Christian Buriall at the discretion of Executrix hereafter nominated Item I give and Bequeath all my houses Leases Lands Tenements and goods w’tsoever I give unto Elizabeth my wife for terme of her naturall life Item I give and bequeath unto Charles Brierley my son and Elizabeth Anne and Sabra my daughters to be divided amongst them after the decease of Elizabeth my wife one Close meadow or pasture lying in the Barlow of Mosbrough Containing by estimation five Roods be the same more or less and my will is that after it be sold my son Charles to have Ten pounds Item I give unto Elizabeth Brierley five pounds also to my daughter Anne five pounds and also I give unto Sabra my youngest daughter five pounds and rest and Residue of what ye Close aforesaid can be sold for unto my son Richard also I give unto my son Richard Brierley five shillings and as is abovesaid I give all my houses Leases lands and Tenaments and Goods w’tsoever unto Elizabeth my wife during her naturall life upon condition that she shall pay all my debts and Legacies and do make her Sole Executrix of this my last will and Testament witness whereof I have hereunto sett my hand and Seale the day and yeare last above written
