In the name of God Amen the thirteenth day of Septemb’r In the yeare of our Lord one thousand six hundred Eightie and Three I Thomas Newbold of Mosbrough in the parish of Eckington and Countie of Derbie Gardiner being somewhat weake in bodie but of sound mynde and memorie (praised be God therefore) doe make and ordain this my last will and testament in manner and forme following first and principally I comend my Soule into the hands of Almightie God my Creator and my bodie to the earth to be decentlie buried att the discretion of my friends And touching such wordly Estate as the Lord in mercie hath bestowed upon mee I dispose thereof as followeth And first my mynd and will is that my due debts (if any shall be att the tyme of my decease) and my funerall charges shall be paid and discharged out of my whole goods Item I give devise and bequeath unto my Sone Thomas All my houses and lands w’th the appurtenances I had by Inheritance from my father and Also one Lathe or Barne with its wavers easements and appurtenances w’ch I purchased of John Langwith Gent adjoining upon the Garden belonging to the messuage wherein I dwell in Mosbrough afores’d And also one Bedstead in the Chamber over the house of the afores’d messuage All these to come into his possession when he shall attain to the age of one and twentie years Item I give and bequeath unto my Eldest daughter Elizabeth the sume of Twentie pounds to be paid her when she shall attain to the age of one and Twentie years And my mynd and will is and I doe hereby appoint That in case my said sone Thomas shall happen to depart this life before he shall fully accomplish the age of one and twentie years and for the houses Lands Lathe or Barne and premises to discend and come to my said daughter Elizabeth as heyre That then she the s’d Elizabeh shall pay out of the same to my other three daughters Jane Judith and Dorothie to each of them twentie pounds when they shall accomplish their respective ages of one and twentie years Item I give and bequeath and devise unto my said daughters Jane Judith and Dorothie All that my tenement or Cottage and Crofte w’ch I purchased of afo’sd John Langwith w’th all ye outhouses and appurtenance thereto belonging (Except ye Lathe or Barne before given to my s’d Sone Thomas) to be equally divided amongst them and each of them to receive the profits of their proportion thereof as they shall severally accomplish the age of one and twentie years Howbeit my will and mynde is that in case my said Sone Thomas be desirous to purchase the sd. Tenement or Cottage and Croft with the appurtenances w’thin ten years after he shall attain to the age of one and twentie years shall pay unto my said daughters Jane Judith and Dorothie the sume of fortie pounds of Currant money That then my said sone Thomas shall have and enjoy the same Item I give and bequeath unto my daughters Jane Judith and Dorothie Two Third partes of my personall effects to be equally divided amongst them after my debts legacies and funerall expenses be paid and discharged Then I give and bequeath unto Katherine my loving wife one third parte of my s’d personall estate in full of her Clayme thereunto And my will and wynde is that my s’d wife shall enjoy both my reall and p’sonall estate for ye education of my s’d Children till they shall attain to their several ages afores’d And as they shall severally attain to their s’d ages that she shall pay and deliver to them their respective legacies Gifts and bequests to them given devised and bequested And I doe hereby make and ordain my s’d wife my Sole Executrix of this my last will and testament And I desyre my loving friends Thomas Smyth and John Styring to be ayding and assising to her in ye Execution hereof
