Last Will and Testament of Richard Towndrow of Mosborough, coal miner (1677)

In the name of god Amen the Sixteen day of September one thousand six hundred seventy seven according to the computation of the Church of England I Richard Towndrow of Mosbrough in the parish of Eckington and county of derby coleminer being of good and perfect memory and Remembrance praised be god do make and ordaine this my last will and testament in manner and form following. First I bequeath my Soule into the hands of Almighty god my maker hopeing that through the meritorious death and passion of Jesus Christ my only Saviour and redeemer to receive free pardon and forgiveness of all my sines and as for my body to be buried in Christian burial at the direction of my Executrix here after named. First I give and bequeath unto my sone John Towndrow the some of three pounds. Item I give and bequeath unto my sone Winson Towndrow the some of three pounds Item I give and bequeath unto my son Henry Towndrow the some of three pounds Item I give unto my doughter Jane ……. the some of five shilling Item I give unto Mr Cransfild Towndrow the sum of one pound Item all the Rest of my goods and Chattells whatsoever I give unto Alis my Loveing wife and Elizabeth by doughter upon condition that she shall pay all my debts and legacies and pay all funeral charges and I make them sole executrixs of this my last will and testament revoking all other wills and testaments In wittnes where of I have hereunto sett my hand and seale the day and yeare first above written
