Last Will and Testament of Paul Webster of Mosborough, sicklesmith (1829)

In the name of God Amen I Paul Webster of Mosbro’ in the Parish of Eckington and County of Derby Sicklesmith being very sick and weak of body but of perfect mind and memory, thanks be given to God therefore calling unto mind the mortality of my body knowing that it is appointed once unto all men to die, do make and order this my last Will and Testament, that is to say, principally and first of all, I give and recommend my soul into the hands of Almighty God that gave it, and my body I recommend to the earth, to be buried in decent Christian burial, at the discretion of my Executrix and friends; nothing doubting but, at the general resurrection, I shall receive the same again by the Almighty power of God. And as touching such worldly estate wherewith it has pleased God to bless me in this life, I give demise and dispose of the same in the following manner and form:= Viz. – I give and bequeath the piece of Parcel of Land called Newlands in the Parish of Eckington aforesaid, containing Three Acres, be the same more or less, likewise the Household Goods and Furniture, Books, Linen, China Personal Estate, Debts, Rights, Credits and Effects whatsoever and wheresoever (subject to the payment thereout of my just debts, Funeral and Testamentary expenses) unto my Wife Mary Webster, to have and to hold the same at her full disposal. And I do hereby nominate, constitute and appoint the said Mary Webster sole Executrix of this my last Will and Testament, hereby revoking all former and other Wills by me made, In Witness whereof I the said Paul Webster the Testator have hereunto set my hand and Seal this ninth day of July, One thousand eight hundred and twenty nine.
