Last Will and Testament of Mary Story of Mosborough, widow (1745)

In the Name of God Amen. The Twenty Sixth Day of July in the Year of our Lord One Thousand Seven Hundred and Forty Five. I Mary Story of Mosbrough in the parish of Eckington and County of Derby Widow, being Sick and weak in the body but of perfect mind and memory thanks be given unto God therefore calling unto mind the Mortality of my body and knowing that it is appointed for all people once to die do make and ordain this my Last Will and Testament. That is to say principally and first of all I give and recommend my soul into the hands of God that gave it and for my body I recommend it to the Earth to be decently buried in a Christian-like and decent manner at the discretion of my Executor hereafter named nothing doubting but at the General Resurrection I shall receive the same again by the mighty power of God and as touching such worldly Estate wheresoever it has pleased God to bless me in this Life I Give devise and dispose of the same in the following manner and form
First of all I Give and Bequeath after my decease unto my Beloved son John Story a Feather Bed and a Pewter Dish and Two Feather Pillows and One Pound of good and Lawfull Money of England and Four Sheep.
Also I Give and Bequeath unto my Beloved son Henry Story a Feather Bolster and a …. …. And Four Sheep and One Pound of good and Lawfull Money of England and One Sheep I have given him at present and ordered him to mark it for himself.
Also I Give and Bequeath unto my beloved son William Story my best Chest and three Chairs and three Blankets and Four Sheep and the Sum of One Pound of good and Lawfull Money of England and Four Sheep and one of the Blankets my son Thomas Story is to give him and my daughter Elizabeth Raighney is to give him Two Blankets.
Also I Give and Bequeath unto my beloved daughter Elizabeth Raighney One Box and Two Chairs and a Woole shawl and a Bed and Furniture in the Chamber and the Hangings from the Bed in the House and the little Square Table (except Two Blankets which she is to give to my son William Story and also I Give and Bequeath unto my beloved daughter Elizabeth Raighney all my Wearing apparel whatsoever and all my Linnons (Except four Napkins and a Table Cloth and Sheet) also I Give unto my daughter Elizabeth Raighney Four Pewter Dishes and One Pound of good and Lawful Money of England and Four Sheep.
Also I Give and Bequeath unto Sarah Story Wife of my son Thomas Story Four Napkins and a Table Cloth.
Also I Give and Bequeath unto Mary Story wife of my son Henry Story a Sheet.
Also my Will and mind that my seat in the North side of Eckington Church shall be for my three sons Henry Story, Thomas Story and William Story to be Equally divided amongst them.
Also my Will and mind is that my Cow shall be kept till she Calves and fit to sale and then she shall be sold and my son William Story shall have One Pound of the Money and my son Henry Story the Sum of Two Shillings of the Money and my daughter Elizabeth Raighley the Sum of Five Shillings of the money and the remainder of the Money shall be for my son Thomas Story.
Also my Will and mind is that the Sum of Five Pounds of good and Lawfull Money of England which is for my son Robert Story if he comes again and if he do not come again shall be equally divided amongst my sons John Story Henry Story William Story Thomas Story and my daughter Elizabeth Raighney
Also my Will and mind is that Three Pounds of good and Lawfull Money of England shall be laid out and paid for my Burial Expenses.
Also I Give and Bequeath unto my beloved son Thomas Story all the rest and remainder of my Personal Estate Money Goods Quick and Dead whatsoever mine is and the good Will of the Farme he the said Thomas Story paying my Just Debts and Funeral Charges and my son Thomas Story paying the abovesaid Legacies to the abovesaid Persons within One Month after my decease and my Will and mind is that what Good is given to the abovesaid person, they shall enter to them at my decease.
And I do also nominate make and ordain my son Thomas Story sole and only Executor of this my last Will and Testament and I do hereby utterly revoke and disanull all and every other form of Will or Wills heretofore by me made and no other to be my last Will and Testament In Witness whereof I have set my hand and seal the day and year above written.
