Last Will and Testament of Joseph Creswick of Mosborough, yeoman (1656)

In the name of God Amen I Joseph Creswicke of Mosbury in the parish of Eckington in the Countie of Derby yeoman being sicke in Bodie but of good and perfect memory doe make this my last will and testament in manner and forme following Inprimis I give and bequeath my bodie to be decentlie buried and my soule to the Almighty, hopeing assuredly to be saved ……. the death and passion of my Savioure Jesus Christ. And for satisfaction to all people whom it may concerne do dispose of my worldlie goods and chattles as followeth Item I give and bequeath to my youngest Brother Nathaniel Creswick All that house and land with the premisses thereunto belonging lying and being in Mosburen in the parish of Eckington in the Countie of Derbie aforesd latelie in the occupation of …… and bought of John Leawicke And that my said Brother Nataniell Creswicke may enjoy in quiet possession after my decease the premisses aforesaid, I leave and bequeath to my Brother in law Christopher Greene and Elizabeth his wife and the longer liver of them or either of them during their or either of their naturall lives All that Tenemnt which is now mortgaged to me now in their occupation to be by them and the longer of either of them quietlie possessed and enjoyed  And after their decease to the next heir of their bodie lawfullie begotten then living. And that at his first entrance into ye premisses he shall then pay by equall portions of lawfull monie of England the value or worth of he said Tenemt which is to be equallie divided between him and the rest of the Brethren and Sisters. Onlie my Brother Greene is to discharge the Surveyors(?) Bill. Item I leave and bequeath to my Brother John Creswick the summe of Thirtie pounds to be paid to him his heirs or Assigns Item I leave and bequeath to my sister Sarah Lea the summe of fortie pounds to be paid to her her heirs or Assigns Item I leave and bequeath to my sister Marie …… the summe of Thirtie Six pounds to be paid unto her in manner and forme as aforesaid That is to say to her or to her heirs or Assigns Item I leave and bequeath to my Cozon John Green my horse and armour(?) or ….. piece thereof with my whole Apparell here both Lillen and Wollen with a Dublet and Breeches that I have at London. Item I leave and bequeath all that monie which is due unto me from the Troope to be paid to the hands of my Quartermaster Henry Lichfield for the discharge of my buriall and other incident charges attending here And that he is to give an Acc(oun)t to my Executor of the same Item I leave and bequeath to my Brother John Creswick one Trunk To my Sister Sarah Lea one Trunk to my Sister Mary Hasleyes(?) one Trunk to my Brother Nathaniell Creswick one Trunk. Item I leave and bequeath to my Brother Nathaniell Creswick ye respective debts due to me from the severell persons hereafter named to be paid unto him viz. from George Chambers ye summe of Twentie shillings from James Benmley(?) of wozley(?) the summe of Two pounds Tenn shillings from the Widdow Lewick the sume of one pound three shillings from Robert Allen of Sheffield the sume of six shillings from Margrit Laffy(?) the sume of Twentie Shillings from George Ingman of Ecclesfield the sume of one pound seaven shillings from John Hancocke of Mosbury the sume of six shillings Item whereas there is due some from my Cozon Robert Reynoulds the summe of Twelve pounds Six pound I leave and bequeath to be by him paid at the end of foure years ensuing the date of these presents to the hands of my Brother Nathaniell Creswick to the ….. of Hellen Lea and Sarah Lea to be equallie divided and paid to them immediatlie after the receipt thereof the other Sixe pounds I freelie forgive him the paym(en)t thereof.
