This is the last Will and Testament of Me Jonathan Oates of Mosbrough of the parish of Eckington in the County of Derby made this Ninth Day of November in the year of our Lord One Thousand Seven hundred and Sixty Eight. And I do Give and Devise to my Loving Wife Martha Oates all that my Messuage or Dwelling House in Mosbrough aforesaid wherein I now inhabit and dwell together with the Croft Gardens Outbuildings and all other the Appurtenances thereunto belonging for and during the Term of her natural Life. Also I further Give and Bequeath unto my said Loving Wife the Use Wearing and Interest of all my Personal Estate for and during the Term of her Natural Life. And at my Wife’s Decease I then Give Devise and Bequeath all my Real and Personal Estate to my two kind Friends and Neighbours William Hobson and William Galley of Mosbrough aforesaid for ever. But upon the Special Trust nevertheless in them reposed that they the said William Hobson and William Galley do as soon as They conveniently can after my said Wife’s Decease Sell both my Real and Personal Estate for the best price and prices that can be gotten and Obtained for the same And that out of the money arising by such sale made by them as aforesaid They do pay to my Two Sons Jonathan Oates and Joseph Oates the sum of Thirty pounds apiece Each of Lawfull British Money. And also to my Four Daughters Martha, Elizabeth, Mary and Anne the Sume of Fifteen pounds apiece Each within the space pf Twelve Months after my said Wife’s Decease. And Also that they do pay the Residue and Remainder of the Money then remaining in their Hands unto my Eldest Son William Oates Twelve Months after my said Wife’s Decease.And I do hereby Ordain and appoint them the said William Hobson and William Galley Executors and Trustees of this my last Will and Testament And I do Also hereby Give, allow and return unto them the said William Hobson and William Galley all such reasonable Costs and Charges as may happen in the Execution of the Trust hereby reposed in them In Wittness whereof I the said Jonathan Oates to this my last Will and Testament in the presence of Three Credible Witnesses have hereunto sett my Hand and Seal the Day and year first above written
