Last Will and Testament of John Taylor of Mosborough, yeoman (1684)

In ye name of god amen the eighteenth day of Aprill in ye six and thirtieth yeare of ye raigne of our sovereign lord Charles ye second by ye grace of god of England, Scotland, France and Ireland king defender of ye faith anno domini 1684. I John Taylor of Mosbrough in ye p’ish of Eckington in ye county of derby yeoman being sick of body but of p’fect memory and remembrance praised be god do make and ordaine this last will and testament in manner and forme following. First I bequeath my soul into ye hands of almighty god my maker hopeing that through ye meritorious death and passion of Jesus Christ my only saviour and redeemer to receive free pardon and forgiveness of all my sins and as for my body to be buried in Christian burial at ye discretion of my executor hereafter named as followeth viz. Imprimis I give and bequeath unto my brother Robert Taylor the close called bad slack, and the croft called croft of ye greene. Item I give and bequeath unto my brother Richard Taylor the lease of ye ground called lampe lands. Item the east end of the house wherein I dwell I give and bequeath unto Mary Kiddow, and some old goodes in it. Item the west end of ye sd house with some other goodes in it I give and bequeath unto Sarah Taylor. All ye residue of my goodes after my debts paid and funeral charges discharged I give and bequeath unto my brother Robert Taylor whom I make sole executor of this my last will and testament requiring him to see it performed and to discharge all that is due, and I revoke all other wills and testaments, making this my last will and testament, In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seale the day and yeare first above written
