In the name of God Amen the Third day of November in the five and twentieth yeare of the Raigne of our Sovraigne Lord Charles the Second by the grace of God king of England Scotland France and Ireland Defender of the faith Ano Dom 1673 I John Taylor of Mosbrough in the p’ish of Eckington in the County of Derby yeoman being weak in body but of good and p’fect Remembrance Laude and praise be to God therefore. And remembering with my selfe the certainty of death but the uncertainty of the day and houre of death. Doe Devise Constitute Ordaine and make this my last will and Testament in Maner and forme following. First and principally I bequeath my Soule into the hands of Almighty god my maker full trusting by the death and passion of my Saviour and Redeemer Jesus Christ to have free release and pardon of all my Synnes And after this life Life Everlasting and my body to be decently Interred in the p’ish churchyard of Eckington afores’d Att the discretion of my friends And as for those worldly goods that God hath indured me withall after my debts paid and my funeral Expenses discharged I give and bequeath in Maner and forme following First and principally I give and bequeath unto Robert Taylor of Hackenthorpe my son twenty pounds which he doth acknowledge himself to owe and ……. Indebted unto me I doe for …… me my Executors and Adminitrators …… ever acquit Exonerate and discharge him the said Robert Taylor his Executors and Adm’s by these p’sents And further my will and mind is and I doo Expressly give and bequeath unto Robert Taylor my Son the full and true Sume of Two pounds of good and Lawfull money of England to be paid unto him the said Robt. Taylor yearly and every year during the terme of Ten years And to be paid by my son John Taylor forth of my land and premises in Mosbrough afores’d ,,,,, Att the feast of St Michael the Arch angell yearly Also I give and bequeath unto Sara Taylor daughter of my son Robt Taylor the whole just and true sume of five pounds of lawfull Engish money and to be paid by my Executor after named within one yeare after my decease And further I give and bequeath unto Sara Taylor daughter of Robt Taylor two cupple of Sheeppe and one Chest Alsoe I do wholy give and bequest unto Samuel Taylor John Taylor Thomas Taylor and Ruth Taylor Children of my son Richard Taylor to every one of them five pounds of good and lawfull money of England to be paid by my Executor hereafter named, within one yeare after my decease Also I doe give and bequeath unto Samuel Taylor son of my son Richard Taylor Two cupple of sheep and one Chest. And alsoe my will and minde is that whereas Sara Taylor of Sheiffeild my Daughter in Law doth owe and is indebted unto me the whole full and true sume of thirteen pounds of good a lawfull money of England which said Sume of Thirteen pounds abovesaid, my will and minde is that she the said Sara Taylor shall pay unto James Taylor her sonn the sume of Ten pounds of good and lawfull money of England To be put forth for his best p’fitt and Advantage until he shall accomplish the age of one and twenty years, And alsoe my will and minde is that she the said Sara Taylor my daughter shall pay unto Hellen Taylor her daughter the sume of three pounds of good and lawfull money of England and to be put forth for her best p’fitt and advantage until she shall accomplish the age of one and twenty years or be married, It being the Residue of the said sume of thirteen pounds above mentioned Alsoe I doo further give and bequest unto James Taylor my Grandchild Ten pounds of good and lawfull money to be paid by my Executor here after named within one yeare after my decease, And I doo further give devise and bequeath unto Hellen Taylor may Grandchild Two pounds of good and lawful money of England to be paid by my Executor hereafter named And also my will and minde is And I doe give and bequeath unto my Son John Taylor all the …. which I now have and the halfe p’te of all the ….. and the ….. And I doo further give devise and bequeath unto John Taylor my Son All those ….. ….. and all my hay and Corn both thrashed and unthrashed And all my household goods whatsoever and those two mares w’ch I now have and all my sheepe (except those which I have formerly bequeathed) and the Residue of all my goods Chattels and Chattells I wholly give and bequeath unto Richard Taylor my son whome I make sole executor of this my last will and Testam’t. And I doe desire Raph Anderton and Tho. Parker to be Supervisors of this my last will and Testam’t desiring them to be Ayding and Assisting to my Executor to see this my last will and testam’t performed according to my true intent and meaning. And I give unto either of them Ten Shillings for their care therein In Witnesse whereof I the said John Taylor have sette my hand and seale the day and yeare first above written
