In the Name of god Amen I John Rippon of Mosbrough in the Parish of Eckington in the County of Derby Hatt Maker being weak in Body but of sound and perfect memory praise be to Almighty God do make and Ordain this my Last Will and Testament in Manner Following (that is to say) First I Commend by Soul into the Hands of Almighty God hoping through the Merits Death and passion of my Blessed Saviour Jesus Christ to have free pardon and forgiveness of all my Sins and to Inheritt Everlasting Life my Body to be Buried Decently at the discretion of my Executor hereafter named and touching the disposal of my temporall estate I give and dispose thereof as followeth Imprimis I will that my Debts and Funeral Expenses be first paid and Discharged Item I give to my beloved Wife Elizabeth Rippon the Sum of Two Pounds a year yearly and every year During her natural Life if she shall live with my Executor hereinafter named But if she shall leave him, my Will is that she shall have paid her weekly and every week the Sum of Two shillings and Sixpence During her natural life by my said Executor, and that my said Executor shall likewise provide a Room for her with Decent furniture for the same But if my said wife should marry again she shall only have paid her by my Executor aforesaid the sum of Five Shillings and the disposing of her wearing apparel. Item I give to my son Richard Rippon the sum of Three pounds to be paid him at the expiration of Twelve months after my Decease Item I give and bequeath unto my Grandson Joseph Rippon the son of John Rippon the sum of Three Pounds after the Decease of my beloved wife if he shall be at the age of Twenty one years, But if he shall not be of that age at the decease of my said wife, then to be paid him when he shall attain his full age of Twenty one years if he shall so long live if not I Give the said sum of Three Pounds to his sister Elizabeth Rippon when she attains the age of Twenty one years But if she should not so long live I give the same to my Son William Rippon whom I ordain Sole Executor of this my last Will and Testament and whom I also charge with the Payment of all my just Debts Legacies and Funeral Expenses In Witness whereof I have hereunto set my Hand and seal the seventeenth Day of November in the year of our Lord One Thousand Seven Hundred and Seventy Seven
