In the name of God Amen : the first day of January in the thirty second yeare of the Raigne of our Souvraigne Lord Charles the second by the grace of God, of England – Scotland France and Scotland, king defender of the faith: I George Savage of the Havon in the parish of Eckington in the county of Derby yeoman, being of good health of body and of sound and perfect mind and memory praise therefore be given to almighty God, doo make and ordaine this my present Last will and Testament, in manner following, first and principally, I comend my soule into the hands of Almighty God, hoping through the merits death and passion of my Savior Jesus Christ do have full and free pardon and forgiveness of all my sins, and doo assure my selfe to Inherit with my Creator Eternall happiness with the blessed Saints in Glory, everlasting and as for my body I comit it to the Earth from whence it came and to be decently Interred in the Church, or church yard of Eckington aforesaid And as for those wordly goods which it hath pleased Almighty God, to bestow of mee in this world, I thus give and bequeath them as followeth Impr. I give unto William Savage and Paull Savage all those closes and parcels of Land heare after mentioned and expressed, viz the oxe close and the Lane close and a little spring of wood lying and being in Ridgeway Lane side, buttinge of Henry Kent by south and the heirs of Mr John Wigfall To have and to hould the said closes and parcels of Land, with all and every of their Apurtenances unto the said William Savage and Paull Savage, and their heirs and Assigns for ever, provided always my will and minde further is that if William Savage or Paull Savage shall happen to dye, before they come to the Age of one and twenty years, then his part soo deceasing shall be equally devided to the longest liver of them and Mary Savage daughter of the aforesaid George Item I give unto my daughter Mary Savage, one close called Newland Carre, now in the tenure and occupation of George Savage the Elder, butting upon the Land of Henry Kent by north and south, And if it fortune that the said Mary Savage shall happen to dye before she come to the Age of one and twenty years then her part, so deceasing, shall be equally devided betwixt William Savage and Paull Savage. Item I give unto John Savage my second sonne five shillings, to be paid by my Executrix heare after named Item I give unto George Savage my Eldest Sonne whom I make my heire the residue of all my Lands, excepting my wifes Jointure for her life. Item as for all the rest of my Chattels and goods unbequeathed, after my debts and funeral expenses be discharged, I give unto my wife Ellen Savage, whom I make my sole Executrix, of this my last will and Testament, In Witness whereof I the said George Savage hath hereunto set my hand and Seale the day and yeare first above written Anno Domini 1680
