Last Will and Testament of George Lynacre of Plumley, gentleman (1645)

In the name of God Amen I George Lynacre of Plumley in the p’ish of Eckington in the County of Derbie gent being sick and weake of body but of good sound and p’fect memorie I thank God therefore doe make and ordeyne this my last will and testament in manner and forme following viz. First I give and bequeath my soule into the hands of Almightie God my maker and to Jesus Christ his deare Sonne my creator and onlie Savio’r hopeing assuredly to be saved by and through the pretious death and blood shedd by my said Saviour Jesus And I comitt my bodie to the earth from whence it came and to be buryed att the discretion of my Executrix hereafter named And as concerning my wordlie goods chattels and cattills Lands tenam’ts and heridatm’ts wherewith God hath blessed mee with I give devise and bequeath the same in mannor and forme following Imprimis my minde and will is that my wife Anne shall hould and injoye All those Landes Tenm’ts and heridatam’ts that I settled on her for her life by Indentures dated the two and twentieth daie of November in the thirtieth yeare of the Raigne of our Soveraigne Lord Kinge Charles the Kinge’s Maj’t that …. for and during her natural lyfe and after her decease I give and bequeath the same lands to my Sonne George Lynacre and his heires and assignes for ever Item I give and bequeath to my Sonne James Lynacre and his heires all those closes being within the Parish of Eckington called by the name or names of the two broad flats the Jennywell and the two Ashfields Item I give and bequeath the high field the New Land close the New Land meadowe with the wood ground thereto adjoyninge lyinge and beinge in the said p’ish of Eckington to such childe as my wife shall have in her wombe att the tyme of my death and his or her heires and assignes for ever Item my minde and will further is that my wife should hould and injoye the said High field New Land close and new land meadowe with the wood grounde for and towarde the payment of my debts and Legacies hereafter bequeathed and untill my child w’ch she shall have in her wombe att the tyme of my death shall come to the age of xxi years And if it shall please God that she shall not be with childe by mee att the tyme of my death then I give the said High field new land close new land meadowe and the wood ground to my said loving wife Ann and her heires and assignes for ever for and towarde the payment of my said debts and legacies herein bequeathed Item I give and bequeath to the poore people of the p’ish of St Alkmunds in Derbie fourty shillinges And I give to the Minister that shall make a Sermon at my death ten shillinges And I give to the poore people within the said parish of Eckington fourty shillinges Item I give to my deare and loveinge Mother Troth Lynacre tenne shillinges to buy her a Ring Item I give to my Sister Anne Woollhouse other tenne shillinges to buy her a Ringe also Item all the Residue of my goods cattelle chattells and personall estate after my debts Legacies and funerall expenses be discharged I give and bequeath the same to my deare and loveing wife Ann Lynacre Item I constitute ordaine and make the said Ann my wife sole Executrix of this my said last will and Testament In Witness whereof I the said George Lynacre have put my hand and seale the thirtieth daie of September Ann Dom 1645
