Last Will and Testament of Francis French of Mosborough, butcher (1794)

This is the last Will and Testament of me Francis French of Mosborough in the Parish of Eckington and County of Derby Butcher, made the Twenty sixth day of April in the year of our Lord One Thousand seven Hundred and Ninety, in manner following. First I give and devise unto my Eldest Son Francis French all that my Messuage or dwelling hous situate in West Mosborough in the Parish of Eckington aforesaid in my own possession Also all that my share of a certain Close or parcel of land called the Inn Meadow Also a certain Close or parcel of land called the two Stacy Acres Also all that my Dwelling House with the Croft thereto adjoining called Dodworth House and Croft Also One Acre of land in the Church Field called the little Acre which lies nearest the Town of West Mosborough and purchased from Nathaniel Creswick Also one Acre and one half of land in the Church Field butting into the park hole bought also of Nathaniel Creswick Also two pieces of land on the Norgreaves the one piece containing three Roods and the other one Rood. Also a certain Close or parcel of land lying near Killamarsh Lane called the Cadman Flat Also one Acre of land in the Lee Field purchased from Nathaniel Creswick Also all those two Closes called Beighton Hills Also one little Meadow near Killamarsh Bridge called the round Meadow all the aforementioned premises are Situate or near Mosbrough in the Parish of Eckington To have and to hold unto him the said Francis French his heirs and assigns for ever. Also I give and bequeath all and Singular my personal Estate and Effects whatsoever and wheresoever and of what nature kind and quality soever the same may be unto my son Francis French And also it is my will and desire that my Son Francis French shall have and enjoy the Tenant Right of those lands I now hold late the Marquis of Rockingham formerly in the tenure of Thomas Bolsover of Bolsover and William Cowley of Mosborough, and also the Tenant Right of those Glebe Lands I now hold belonging to the Rectory of Eckington Also I give and devise unto my younger son Joseph French all those my two Closes or parcels of land with the appurtenances called the Broom Closes late in the possession of John Bradshaw Also one Close or parcel of land called the Harberfrith and One Acres of land butting thereto in the Lee Field late Rotherhams Also all that my Messuage or Dwelling House together with all those several pieces or parcels of land thereto belonging late in the possession of Mary Hobson containing by estimation Twenty Eight Acres all which said premises are Situate at Mosbrough in the Parish of Eckington aforesaid To have and to hold unto him the said Joseph French his Heirs and assigns for ever but subject nevertheless to and charged and chargeable with the payment of all and every my just Debts and following Legacies my Funeral and testamentary expenses and also the payment of Eighty Pounds to my present Wife Elizabeth French according to our marriage articles and I do charge and subject the Messuage Lands and premises above mentioned and bequeathed to my said Son Joseph French with the full payment thereof accordingly And further it is my Will and desire that my said Son Joseph French shall have and enjoy the Tenant Right of those lands I hold under the late Marquis of Rockingham lately in the occupation of John Taylor Also I give and devise unto my Daughter Ann Rotherham all those my three Messuages with a Barn and Smithy thereto adjoining situate on the top of Mosborough Green now in the several tenures of George Cowley Widow Fox Joseph Hubbard and John Scholey Also half an acre of land lying in the Street Field bought of Nathaniel Creswick To have and to hold unto my said Daughter Ann Rotherham for and during the Term of her natural life and at her decease to  be equally divided amongst her children share and share alike Also I give and bequeath unto my Grand Daughter Hannah Hutton the sum of Forty Pounds the sum of Forty Pounds to be paid by my Executor hereafter named at the Expiration of Twelve Months after my decease I also give and devise unto each of any Grand Children the Sons and Daughters of my said Daughter Ann Rotherham (Hannah only excepted) the sum of Four Pounds apiece to be paid them each respectively when or so soon as they attain the age of Twenty one years. And lastly I do hereby constitute and appoint my said Son Joseph French Sole Executor of this my last Will and Testament In Witness whereof I the said Francis French have hereunto set my Hand and Seal the day and year first above written
