Last Will and Testament of Anne Cowley of Mosborough, widow (1679)

In the name of God Amen the five and twentieth day of Aprill in the one and Thirtieth yeare of the Raigne of or’ Sovraigne Lord Charles the Second now King of England Anno Dom 1679 I Anne Cowley of Mosborough in the p’sh of Eckington in the County of Derby widow being sick in body but of sound and p’fect memory, praise be given to God for the same and knowing the certainty of death and the uncertainty of the day and houre of death, being desirous to put thing in order doe make this my last Will and Testament. In mann’ and forme following First and principally I comend my Soule to Almighty God my Creator assuredly believing that I shall receive full pardon and full remission of all my Sines. And be saved by the precious death and merritts of my blessed Saviour and redeemer Jesus Christ and my body to ye earth from where it was taken And as touching my wordly Estate which the Lord of his mercy hath lent me my will and meaning is the same shall be imployed and bestowed as hereafter in this will is expressed First I give and bequeath unto Richard Newton the sume of twenty Shillings of Curr’t English money to be paid within six months after my decease by my Executors hereafter named. Also I give and bequeath unto William Champion the like sume of Twenty Shillings and to be paid by my Executor after named with Six months after my decease Also I give and bequeath to Anne Story wife of Mathew Story my grand child the like Sume of Twenty Shillings to be paid by my said Executor wth’in Six months as aforesaid Also I do give grant and bequeath unto my son John Cowley the like sume of Twenty Shillings to be paid unto him by my sd Executor with the time limited as aforesd And for ye rest and residue of all my goods Cattells and Chattells ……. I give and bequeath unto Nicholas Greaves my son who I name Sole Executor of this my last Will and Testam’t And I do Revoke all former Wills by me hereto fore made and I doe publish and declare this to be my last Will and Testam’t In Witness whereof I the said Anne Cowley have sett my hand and Seale the day and yeare first above written
